Dr. Eric Miller
Serving San Marcos, New Braunfels, Seguin, & San Antonio
Dr. Miller is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and founded the Central Texas Pain Center in 2004 in New Braunfels, TX. His practice now has over 7000 patients. He earned his B.A. in biology from Washington and Jefferson College in 1995 and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1999. He completed a one year internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and then completed both his anesthesiology residency and pain fellowship at Duke University. He strongly believes in an individualized and multidisciplinary approach to pain management. He works closely with the area internists, physical therapists, chiropractors, psychiatrists, neurologists, and spine surgeons to insure that each patient has the most optimal individualized treatment plan. In his spare time he enjoys travel with his family, tennis, and golf.
Dr. Daniel Frederick
Serving North Austin, South Austin & San Marcos
Dr. Daniel Frederick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin. He then went on to receive his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Frederick then traveled to Gainesville, Florida to complete an anesthesiology residency at the University of Florida Shands Hospital. After practicing anesthesia for two years, Dr. Frederick then pursued further medical training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he completed a pain management fellowship. After practicing pain management for 5 years, Dr Frederick joined Central Texas Pain Center in San Marcos, Texas in July 2011. Dr. Frederick is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
In his spare time, Dr. Frederick enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and fishing. Dr. Frederick remains active in the medical community through his memberships in the International Spine Intervention Society, the Texas Pain Society, the Texas Medical Association and the Travis County Medical Society.
Dr. Genaro Gutierrez
Serving North Austin, South Austin & San Marcos.
Dr. Genaro “Jerry” Gutierrez is a native Austinite that is board certified in Anesthesiology & Pain Management. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin, he completed medical school at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He received his training in anesthesiology at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC where he was awarded for both clinical and academic excellence. He later furthered his training by completing a fellowship in interventional pain management at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was taught by leaders in the field.
In addition to authoring textbook chapters in the field of pain management, he performed clinical research in several innovative therapies in pain management and received national recognition while presenting his findings at national conferences for both anesthesiology and pain management.His vision is to provide advanced, evidence-based, multidisciplinary and cost effective pain management in an effort to reduce patient suffering while improving their function and quality of life.
He enjoys cycling, jogging and doing just about anything outdoors. He is fluent in Spanish and is thrilled to return and serve the Austin community.
Dr. Doug Freiberger
Dr. Freiberger comes to the Central Texas Pain Center and Waco from Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the Emory University School of Medicine, and subsequently completed a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain medicine at Emory. From there, he continued on as assistant professor in the Emory University Department of Anesthesiology where he specialized in acute and chronic pain medicine. During his faculty tenure at Emory, Dr. Freiberger provided clinical education on the contemporary use of opioid analgesics in the management of chronic non-cancer pain to students, residents, pharmacists, and practicing physicians. He was also responsible for training residents and fellows in state of the art interventional pain management techniques and procedures, and served as director of the Grady Pain Clinic.
Dr. Freiberger’s clinical interests include the management of facet syndrome, radiculitis, and complex regional pain syndrome. Dr. Freiberger is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
In his spare time, Dr. Freiberger enjoys spending time with his family, lifting weights, running, and target shooting.
Dr. Stewart Z. Zweikoft, MD
Serving San Antonio & Segiun
Dr. Zweikoft comes to the Central Texas Pain Center team and Seguin from Pensacola, FL. He trained at the University of Missouri at Kansas City where he completed his residency in anesthesiology. He served on the clinical faculty, department of anesthesiology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, and then completed a Pain Medicine fellowship at University of Cincinnati. Dr. Zweikoft is a certified Diplomat of The American Board of Anesthesiology and has a Subspecialty Certification in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Zweikoft is trained in spinal cord stimulators, injection therapies, medication management and physical medicine techniques. His varied experiences and previous chiropractic background make him a unique asset for his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Zweikoft plays guitar and has been featured in various music ensembles from a rock trio to an eighteen piece jazz band. He is excited to be so close to the great music scenes in Austin and San Antonio.
Dr. Hans E. Bengtson, MD
Serving North & South Austin
Dr. Bengtson is an Austin native who attended Westlake High School and then when onto completing medical school at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Bengtson then pursued further medical training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center where he completed a pain management fellowship. Dr. Bengtson is board certified in Pain Management. Dr. Bengtson enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and Texas BBQ. He is actively involved with AIDS Services of Austin, Project Transitions, the Hill Country Ride for AIDS, and other local non-profit organizations giving back to the community.
Dr. Samuel Stevens, MD
Serving San Antonio
Dr. Samuel Stevens was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He has also lived in Austin, Chicago, and New York. He studied acting and writing at Northwestern University, and later attended the University of Texas for medical school, anesthesiology residency and pain medicine fellowship. He is board certified in anesthesiology and in pain management. He has published articles and presented his work in chronic and regional pain medicine conferences. He enjoys traveling, hiking, basketball, and being with his family.
Dr. Teddrick Dunson, MD
Serving Fort Worth
Dr. Teddrick Dunson completed his medical degree at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He then went on to do a transitional year internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. During that year, he practiced a wide range of specialties including surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology, and allergy/immunology. He then went on to complete an anesthesiology residency at UMDNJ, Newark. Dr. Dunson joined the anesthesiology staff at UMDNJ prior to proceeding on to fellowship training. Dr. Dunson completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Dunson is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Having completed his training in a multidisciplinary program, Dr. Dunson practices a multifaceted approach to comprehensive pain management. Dr. Dunson spent seven years practicing pain management in Orlando, Florida (2008-2015) before joining Central Texas Pain Center.
As an interventional pain management physician he believes that procedures without the use of long term pain medications are the optimal approach to treating pain, but fully appreciates the role of medications in the treatment of chronic pain.
Dr. Scott Campbell, MD
Dr. Campbell is a native Texan who earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology at the University of Texas at Austin before attending medical school at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. He then completed his anesthesiology residency at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. After practicing anesthesia for over 10 years, he then pursued pain management, completing a fellowship in Pain Management at Texas Pain in Dallas, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is active in the American Society of Anesthesia, Spine Intervention Society, and Bell County Medical Society. He believes in multidisciplinary management and works closely with physical therapists, chiropractors, pain psychologists, and spine surgeons.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 year old daughter as well as being an avid SCUBA diver, hunter, and skier.
Leslie C. Escalante, PA-C, MPAS

Leslie Escalante is a National Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) who received her education from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant studies.
Leslie has been practicing medicine, specializing in pain management since 2004. She is a fellow member of TAPA (Texas Academy of Physician Assistants), AAPA (American Academy of Physician’s Assistants) and the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society. Her experience and wide base knowledge of interventional and natural based therapies to help treat chronic pain has gained her the trust and loyalty of her patients. Leslie is an extremely compassionate individual who strives to provide each patient with long lasting results along with personalized and professional care.
Angela Ash, PA-C

Angela Ash is a native Texan growing up in West and Central Texas. She moved to Austin in 1994. She attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center receiving a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2006. She has extensive experience in both Neurosurgery and pain management and is skilled in office surgical procedures. She is board certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. She is a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and local Central Texas PA society.
In her spare time, she and her family enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, tennis, swimming and photography.
Chris Biehl, PA-C
Serving North Austin & Killeen
Chris was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio but since moving to Texas in 2008 has never looked back. He has spent over 20 years in the Army both on active duty and with the National Guard and has over 10 years experience as an Advanced Tactical Practitioner (ATP) in trauma management. He received his PA education through the military’s Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) and earned his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2015 from the University of Nebraska. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society. In his spare time Chris enjoys reading, spending time with his wife and daughters, target shooting, and music.
Krista Engler, PA
Serving South Austin & San Marcos
Krista started her path to becoming a Physician Assistant at the University of New Hampshire where she completed a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. From there she attended Springfield College in MA where she completed her training in Physician Assistant studies. Her career began in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine, in Acute Rehabilitation hospitals and Long Term Acute Care hospitals in Boston. Krista’s career then focused on Hospital Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. Dreading the long winters in MA, Krista decided to follow family to Austin, TX for sunshine and relaxed living. Her career in Pain Management started in 2015 and she is very pleased to join the team at Central Texas Pain Center. On her days off, she will be found at the many parks with her 3 dogs, kayaking, enjoying live music and wonderful restaurants here in Austin.
Sherri Davidson, RN MSN BC ACNP APRN
Sherri obtained her RN from McLennan Community College, and her BSN and MSN from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 1997. Sherri has practiced as an ICU nurse and hospitalist with experience in internal medicine, neurology and pain management.
Sherri is a resident of China Spring and has lived in the Waco area since birth. She is married with 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. She participates in triathlons, marathons/running events and cycling events. She has been and still is on the board of several local charities; as well as state and local professional boards. She enjoys watching her son play baseball and in general; enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Kaycee Power, MSN,RN,FNP-C
Serving Seguin & New Braunfels
Kaycee obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2008. She practiced as a surgical RN in Dallas and San Antonio before returning to graduate school. Kaycee obtained a Master’ of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2015. She is a member of the Hill Country Nurse Practitioner Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Kaycee grew up in New Braunfels, TX and currently lives there. She enjoys traveling, running, reading,and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Texas Longhorns and the San Antonio Spurs.
